An Israeli basketball company is offering an online course in basketball training for the public.
The course, which has already been downloaded by more than 50,000 Israelis, is for the general public and does not require any special certification, a spokeswoman for the company told Haaretz.
The website, called Basketball Training for Beginners, is based in the coastal city of Ashkelon.
The courses, which cost around 1,800 shekels ($16), include instruction on the fundamentals of the game and basketball fundamentals such as dribbling, passing, shooting and the fundamentals for hitting the ball.
The program is being launched by the Israeli basketball association, Israel Basketball Association, to help prepare its athletes for international competitions.
The Israeli Basketball Association is a state-run association of professional basketball players.
The organization announced the program last month, saying it is aiming to create a new generation of basketball players for Israeli basketball.
The league’s governing body, the Israeli Basketball Federation, is also considering a move to create an international league with teams based in Israel, a spokesperson said.
