A woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer has been ordered by a judge to undergo a series of cancer treatments to try and get her life back on track.
Claire Ann McQuaig has been in a wheelchair since a serious accident in January 2016.
McQuaag, of Oglala, Mississippi, has battled cancer since she was 10 years old and is currently receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments to fight off the disease.
Her lawyer, Andrew H. Miller, told a judge Tuesday that McQuacag is ready to get back to work.
“I don’t know why she’s being forced to undergo this medical treatment.
I don`t understand what`s being forced on her,” Miller said.
She said McQuas life will be back to normal and that her doctor and his wife, Karen, have been “great.”
Miller said he wants to make sure McQuae is able to go back to her job as a cashier at a local restaurant.
He also said Mcquae has received counseling and is on track to start chemotherapy again.
In the meantime, he wants McQuaa to keep a safe distance from other patients at the clinic.
Miller said McQaig, whose name has been changed for privacy reasons, has been a model patient and has been “really good about it.”
“She`s been a wonderful patient.
She`s done the best she can to take care of herself,” he said.
