Business training apps are becoming a popular option for employers looking for a more personalized way to teach their employees how to get their jobs done.
The provincial government is launching a business training program this fall, but many of the apps available to CPB’s more than 15,000 employees will only be available for a few months before the program is rolled out nationwide.
The company, which is the province’s largest employer, said it plans to launch a wide range of business training tools that cover everything from online training to classroom instruction, including one that can be used by CPB employees to help prepare for their first day of work.
CPB said the company’s app is one of the few it’s releasing in the first half of the year, though other apps like One Business Training are still being rolled out.
“We’re really excited about the opportunity to partner with CPB,” said Lisa Wozniak, chief marketing officer of CPB.
“We’re going to be able to give our employees the tools they need to grow their careers.”
For CPB, training is a key driver of its business.
The business training service helps employers identify potential customers for their products and services, which then can help them build sales.
The app allows employees to get feedback on what their customers are looking for, such as how they’re using CPB products or services.
Employees can also submit feedback and ask for recommendations.
Employees can also check in with CPBs training department, where they can get advice on how to best prepare their employees for their jobs.
Employers can use the app to track employee engagement in the workplace and learn how to boost employee morale.
They can also use the training to prepare their workforce for potential future career changes.
“When we talk about business opportunity, it’s about finding the right fit for your organization,” said Bill Gavura, CPB CEO.
“So we’re focusing on building the right skills and we’re working to do that by giving our employees a better understanding of their workplace and the opportunities that lie ahead.”
Some employers are also looking for ways to help employees with their training.
A few CPB trainings are being used to teach new recruits about the workplace, including an online class that gives them the chance to take part in a team-building exercise and a video class that will give them a refresher on the company.
CPBS also recently launched a training class on how CPB staff can learn new skills.
“It’s not just a case of just having the right tools for one person, it would be good for the entire organization,” Woznisak said.
Employer training is an important part of the CPB mission, she said, because it helps employees connect with their potential clients.
CPBs focus on creating a strong workforce, which means it has to make sure its training tools are helping employees grow as well.
“The number one reason we hire employees is that they’re motivated to do their job,” she said.
“And they need that to stay motivated.
So training can help that.”
